DAFFODIL DAY 2024
The Annual Daffodil Day Fund Raiser for the Cancer Society is a great example of how our members and club gets in behind and supports a great cause on a local level. The Day itself is organised by the Vintage Car Club of New Zealand with events held throughout New Zealand with approx. 36 clubs taking part. We were invited by the Tauranga Branch to participate in there Day held at their Club Rooms in Cliff Road.
This event is very well supported by not only the public but also the local car community with all types of cars on display from Ferraris to your Classics.
Over the last six years the VCC of New Zealand has raised over $300,000 for the Cancer Society though the Daffodil Car Rally. It was pointed out by Alyson from the Cancer Society that funds raised here in the Bay of Plenty stay here to support Individuals or families plus ongoing research. One in three will be affected one way or another with Cancer.
Its always pleasing to see how our Club and its members get involved to support these worthy causes. With a turn out of 22 cars all parked up including 4 cars offering rides to those wanting the “Mustang “experience. After a morning of mixing and mingling and the partaking of some light refreshments several of our members went off on an organised run with a quiz thrown in. This took us out the back of Oropi then towards Rotorua and back enroute to Te Puke with our destination at the Welcome Bay Motor Caravan Park where we were greeted by Roy and Judy Tidman (the grounds Volunteer custodians).
Once again, the VVC put on a wonderful afternoon tea, all in all a delightful and very satisfying day out. Once again a big thank you who supported this club event, its moments like these that showcase the power of our club and the difference we can make when we come together as a club. Hope to see you soon.
May the road to happiness be driving in your Mustang.
